The City of Coeur d’Alene’s rapid growth has led to longer emergency response times for the fire department. To remedy this issue, we designed Coeur d’Alene Fire Station 4 on Atlas Road. This station is based on our previous work with the CDA fire department, specifically Fire Station No. 3.
Station No. 4 features a drive-thru four-vehicle apparatus bay, sleeping quarters for seven fire personnel, a day room, kitchen, meeting room, restrooms, exercise room, offices, and storage areas. The exterior design of the station blends in with the surrounding residential neighborhoods. The original plan was for an 8,000 sf fire station. By eliminating the decontamination room and upper-level mechanical/storage areas and making the meeting room and apparatus bay smaller, we reduced the station to 7,000 sf and still met the fire department’s needs. The covered patio provides a comfortable outdoor seating area and protection for the barbeque. Overall, the new fire station will improve emergency response times and better serve the growing northwest quadrant of Coeur d’Alene.
