LTA Architects recently completed another renovation to Lakes Middle School, following our initial remodeling in 2009. This 65-year-old school has received an impressive 17,300 sf addition to help accommodate the continued growth in the Coeur d’Alene School District.
The renovation includes relocating, expanding, and remodeling the choir room, adding a second gymnasium, and a new band room. The 1950s locker rooms have undergone a significant renovation, including new lockers, tiling, flooring, and fixtures. The Industrial Arts program now has a new home in the newly remodeled existing band room.
Moreover, the school’s front office has been remodeled, and a secured entry was added, ensuring the student’s and staff’s safety and well-being. Approximately 5,000 sf of the U-shaped courtyard at the front of the school was filled in to house a new media center, a new computer lab, and a hallway that now connects the two halves of the school. The remaining outdoor courtyard provides ample space for an open-air classroom.
Currently accommodating approximately 690 students from sixth to eighth grade, Lakes Middle School has successfully undergone a much-needed renovation that will undoubtedly benefit the school and its students for years to come.
